BAHRAIN men’s golf team stayed ahead yesterday at the end of the second round of the 21st GCC and Third Ladies Golf Championships at Royal Club Golf.
Kuwait, who are banned from taking part in any international sports events, saw their players participate under the name of General Secretariat.
Bahrain topped the leaderboard with 466 points with Saudi second with 467 and the UAE third with 247.
The competition also sees scores counted on a single basis.
UAE’s Ahmed Sakek topped the charts with 150 points with Saudi’s Othman Al Mulla second with 151 and level with Bahrain’s Saqer Al Noami.
In the women’s team competition, the UAE top the table with 361 points while the General Secretariat team were second on 366 and Qatar third on 483.
Emiratis Reema Al Helo led in the individual section with 181 points, same as her compatriot Tara Al Marzooqi who was second on count back.
General Secretariat’s Nora Al Dosery was third with 182 points.
The third round kicks off today at 8am.
