BBK Adliya Financial Mall defeated BBK Exhibition Road Financial Mall 3-2 in Division 1 to clinch the title of the 13th BBK & FCTG ‘Western Union’ Team Tennis Tournament held at Bahrain Tennis Federation courts on University of Bahrain campus in Isa Town.
BBK Adliya raced to an early 1-0 lead when the pair of Cocoy Monisit and Rico Simatupang won against Eyad Rafeea and Anwar Hijris 6-2, 6-1. BBK Exhibition Road levelled at 1-1 after Ali Fakhroo and Ahmed Mahmood scored a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Munding Leano and Carlo Dela Rosa.
BBK Adliya Financial Mall wrapped up the win after taking a 3-1 lead with consecutive victories by AJ Mondelo and Nilo Bongcalos 6-4, 7-6 against Khalid Janahi and Khalid Ghayoomi, and Dan Hiangan and Edwin Clarito over Hamad Ali and Jassim Haji 7-6, 6-3.
In the fifth match, Fouad Al Rowaiee and Ebrahim Qaed of BBK Exhibition Road beat Gregg Fajardo and Sanny Alcantara 6-1, 7-5 to make it 3-2.
In Division 2, BBK Central Market Branch clinched the title with a 3-1 victory over BBK Manama Main Branch.
BBK Central Market’s Ching Ebdani and Aldwin Gonzales defeated BBK Manama’s Jing Gonzales and Efren Bathan 7-6, 6-2. Billy Castillo and Mai Cua of BBK Central Market fought hard against Marila Resurrecion and Michelle Pedro on super tie-break before pulling off a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 victory.
Levi Calica and Len Nepomuceno downed Lydia Sinocruz and Rawan Adel 6-3, 6-2 to complete BBK Central Market’s win.
In the fifth match, BBK Manama earned a consolation win after the match was stopped in the first set with Abby Pelagio and Leomar Baruela leading BBK Central Market’s Ana Hernandez and Annie de Guzman 7-6.
