An Israeli woman of Arab origin (Palestinian citizen of Israel) has reportedly been sentenced to death in the UAE after a court in Abu Dhabi found her guilty of possessing a large quantity of drugs.
According to Israel Broadcasting Authority, the woman was convicted of possessing half a kilo of cocaine.
It said the verdict is likely to be appealed and replaced with heavy prison sentences.
The Foreign Ministry in Israel confirmed the report, saying it was familiar with the woman’s case and was handling it through Israel’s diplomatic mission to the UAE and contacts with the convict’s family.
It had warned Israelis planning to visit the UAE against its strict anti-drugs laws.
