Doha: The State of Qatar is drawing up a contingency plan to protect workers from ‘heat stress’ under scorching summer temperature.
The Ministry of Health announced that the preventive strategy would be implemented from next year, reported local Arabic daily Al-Raya.
Health officials held a key meeting with representatives of the ministries of labour development and labour and social affairs, in addition to the Primary Healthcare Institution, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and Qatar Red Crescent.
The Director of Health Protection and Non-communicable diseases director Dr Shaikha Al-Anood bint Mohammed Al-Thani stressed efforts to protect labourers and prevent accidents, professional diseases and deaths at worksites, reported local Arabic daily Al-Raya.
