FOOTBALL – RIFFA scored twice in the second half to seal a 2-1 comeback win against Al Ahli in their 17th-round match of the 2024-25 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town last night.
Abdullah Al Hashash scored from the penalty spot to put Ahli ahead in the 30th minute and they maintained the lead until half-time.
Riffa managed to draw level two minutes after the break through Samy Frioui and Vinicius Vargas struck in the 75th minute to claim a memorable victory.
Meanwhile, defending champions Al Khaldiya held Al Shabab to a 1-1 draw at the National Stadium in Riffa. After a goalless first half, Omar Alothmani put Al Shabab ahead in the 65th minute, but Jovan Marinkovic struck the equaliser for Khaldiya in the 81st minute.
In another 17th-round match played last night, East Riffa and Manama played out a 1-1 draw at Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium.
On Thursday, Muharraq widened their lead at the top with a 2-0 victory over Sitra in their 17th-round match at Khalifa Sports City Stadium. In other matches played on Thursday, Al Najma defeated Malkiya 1-0 at the National Stadium while Bahrain Club were held to a 1-1 stalemate against A’ali.
