In the latest addition to a series of bizarre diktats by North Korean leader Kim Jung Un, all new parents in the country are instructed to name their children 'gun', or 'bomb' (Pok Il) to foster a sense of patriotism.
The new directive comes at a time when Pyongyang is cracking down on names the government thinks are "too soft".
Other names suggested also include 'satellite' (Ui Song) and 'loyalty' (Chung Sim).
According to reports, Un's government is set to impose fines on parents who do not follow the directive.
The reports say that the government believes that names without a final consonant are 'anti-socialist'.
Adults whose names also sound 'anti-socialist' have been asked to change their names to ones that have more of an ideological and military meaning.
Officials also stated that the new names must not be similar to names in South Korea.
