Bahrain remains committed to strengthening its role as an active partner in the global economic system, Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has said.
It will continue to enhance the investment environment, adopt best practices and empower human capital by expanding productive employment opportunities in partnership with the private sector, he told the Bab Al Bahrain Forum 2025, which he inaugurated yesterday.
Shaikh Khalid was deputised by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to open the forum, organised by the Bahrain Chamber under the theme ‘Shaping a Sustainable Future through Trade and Employment’.
Shaikh Khalid emphasised that hosting the forum highlights Bahrain’s established position in its comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad and supported by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He noted that Bahrain has become a leading hub based on the principles of sustainability, competitiveness and fairness that underpin Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, particularly in trade, investment and services.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the prominent local, regional and international participation in the forum is a clear indication of the confidence Bahrain holds, underscoring its status as a trusted destination for economic dialogue and shaping future development strategies.
Bahrain’s plans are in line with the positive indicators achieved by the National Labour Market Plan 2023-2026, which aims to create quality job opportunities for citizens, positioning them as the optimal choice for employment and meeting national aspirations for sustainable prosperity, he said.
Shaikh Khalid thanked the Chamber for organising the forum, which embodies its vital role, rooted in more than 85 years of history, in supporting economic development efforts and broadening the horizons of regional and international co-operation.
Chamber chairman Sameer Nass thanked HRH Prince Salman for supporting the forum.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting economic initiatives that promote business and encourage dialogue among various economic actors, thereby advancing sustainable development and strengthening Bahrain’s position as a leading commercial and industrial hub.
He added that the forum, which brings together for the first time representatives from the International Labour Organisation, the World Trade Organisation, the International Chamber of Commerce, the GCC Secretariat General, trade ministers and leaders of Arab and Gulf chambers of commerce, presents a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives and propose innovative solutions to various challenges.
