CUE SPORTS – BAHRAIN’S cueists had a strong start in the Arab Billiards and Snooker Federation Cup, which is being hosted by the kingdom.
In billiards, Haider Maroom and Ibrahim Al Qaid won in their respective categories.
Maroom defeated Iraqi Karar Jassim 9-5 and triumphed against Oman’s Mohammed Al Balooshi 9-6, while Al Qaid defeated Yemeni Nasser Haider 9-5.
In snooker, the Bahrain A pairing of Habib Subah and Khalil Ibrahim advanced to the second round, topping its group after winning against Libya and Jordan, both with a 3-0 score line. They are now set to face off with Qatar in the quarter-finals.
The Bahrain B tandem of Munther Al Basri and Hisham Al Saqr also qualified for the last eight after beating the UAE 3-2 and Oman 3-0. They are next set to face off with Yemen in the quarters.
Bahrain’s C team consisting of Majed Dhaif, Younis Saqr, and Talal Jassim were eliminated from further contention after losing 2-3 to Qatar and 0-3 to Kuwait.
Meanwhile, in singles snooker play, Al Basri beat Yemeni Haitham Al Hammadi 3-0, while Ibrahim defeated Mohammed Al Qaisi of Yemen 3-1.
