MOTORSPORT - BRAZILIAN Rafael Camara claimed a dominant lights-to-flag victory yesterday in the feature race of the FIA Formula Three Championship, held at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir as part of the support event programme of the Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025.
The F3 action this meeting marked the second of 10 rounds this season in the series.
Camara lost the lead on lap one and after a tough duel with Briton Callum Voisin of Rodin Motorsport grabbed it back for good on lap five.
Camara then built a comfortable gap all the way to the chequered flag, winning 6.211 seconds ahead of runner-up Voisin.
German Tim Tramnitz of MP Motorsport joined them on the podium in third after finishing 7.884s back.
“Just finished the race in Bahrain, quite happy with the result,” said Camara. “The team did an amazing job. I had a very good car for the race, after yesterday it was a good comeback, very happy with the result.
“Thanks a lot to the team and now we keep our heads down for the next round.”
Yesterday’s action wrapped up the F3 programme in Bahrain over F1 weekend. It was the second round of the season.
With the result, Camara has now won both F3 feature races of this 2024-25 campaign.
Camara continues to lead the F3 drivers’ championship with 56 points, while Tramnitz follows in second place with 30 points.
Voisin and Noah Stromsted of Trident tied on 27 points apiece, while F3 sprint race winner in Bahrain Nikola Tsolov completed the top five for Campos Racing on 23 markers.
The F3 drivers and teams now have a slight break before heading back to Europe for the third round of the 2025 season, to be held in Imola from May 16 to 18.
F3’s 2025 season is the start of a brand-new era in the F1 feeder category, which now boasts the latest Dallara-built car. It is more closely in line with both F2 and F1 in terms of safety, systems, and performance.
Furthermore, the 2025 car runs on advanced fuel, developed to the FIA’s 100 per cent sustainable fuel standard.
