MOTORSPORT – VERSTAPPEN.COM Racing, supported by Bahraini-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport, secured a fantastic podium in class early yesterday morning in the season-opening round of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, are backing Verstappen.com Racing in their debut entry in the highly competitive championship. The first round was held at Paul Ricard Circuit in France.
Verstappen.com Racing is the official racing programme of four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen.
The trio of Thierry Vermeulen, Chris Lulham, and Harry King finished in second place yesterday in the series’ Gold Cup at the end of the gruelling six-hour race, which ended in the early hours of the morning, Bahrain time.
The trio also made it into the overall top 10, placing ninth among a massive field of 59 cars.
Behind the wheel of their Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo contender, being run by 2 Seas Motorsport, Verstappen.com Racing completed 179 laps in the event, going a minute and 16.773 seconds slower than overall race winners Team WRT featuring Kelvin van der Linde, Charles Weerts, and Ugo De Wilde, who also finished with 179 laps. They were competing in the championship’s Pro Cup.
Winners of the Gold Cup ahead of Verstappen.com Racing were CSA Racing, composed of Arthur Rougier, James Kell and Simon Gachet. They were driving their McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and finished seventh overall, 1:01.679 from Team WRT.
Joining them on the podium in class in third were Al Manar Racing by WRT, featuring Jens Klingmann, Ben Tuck and Al Faisal Al Zubair, driving a BMW M4 GT3 Evo. They were 10th overall in the race.
With the completion of round one, the five-event GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup’s 2025 calendar now heads for its second meeting, set to take place in Monza, Italy, from May 30 to June 1. It will be followed by the marquee Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium from June 25 to 29.
The penultimate endurance meeting will then take place from August 29 to 31 at the Nurburgring in Germany, setting the stage for the championship finale from October 10 to 12 in Barcelona, Spain.
In supporting Verstappen.com Racing, 2 Seas are in their second straight campaign in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. Their maiden participation last year added to their stint in the British GT Championship, expanding their racing schedule for 2024.
2 Seas’ GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup participation last year featured a driver line-up that included Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa, Lewis Williamson of Scotland, and Martin Kodric of Croatia.
