TENNIS – BAHRAIN’S Ahmed Alsayed punched his ticket to the boys’ singles quarter-finals yesterday in the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Bahrain 16U Championship 2025, currently being played at the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) courts in Isa Town.
Third-seeded Ahmed defeated Redha Hasan of Brunei 6-0, 6-4 to secure his spot in the last eight. There, he will take on fellow-Bahraini Ali Alkhayyat, who beat Saudi Arabia’s Sultan Alyami 7-6, 6-2.
Meanwhile, second seed Ahmad Sarouji of Saudi upset second seed Parth Sane of India 6-4, 6-0. He set up an all-Saudi clash in the quarters against Ali Alahmad, who also won in an upset over eighth seed Ahmed Ibrahim of Hungary 6-1, 6-4.
Boys’ singles top seed Hursh Patel of India advanced following a 6-0, 6-0 triumph against Nasser Mohamed of Bahrain.
He will next face fifth seed Radu Pop of Romania, who won 6-1, 6-0 against Jack Khoo of Singapore.
The other quarter-final will be between Bahraini seventh seed Talal Alsayed and Saudi fourth seed Ibrahim Alandejani. Talal defeated Rabeeb Ali of India 6-1, 6-3, while Alandejani overcame compatriot Mohammed Alyami 6-4, 6-2.
Play in the ATF tournament also features action in the boys’ doubles, girls’ singles, and girls’ doubles. Following this competition, another two ATF events are set to be held at the BTF in succeeding weeks.
The ATF 14&U Category A Tournament for West Asia is scheduled for May 5 to 11, after which the ATF Bahrain 14U will be held from May 10 to 16.
