Tehran has responded to New Delhi's request for safe passage to evacuate over 10,000 stranded Indian students amid ongoing bombings from Israel.
With its airspace closed, Iran has proposed that students use land borders to exit into Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan. India is considering an evacuation operation, and the Indian Embassy is monitoring the situation closely and relocating students to safer areas within Iran as needed.
Recently, two Indian students from Kashmir were injured in an attack near the boys' dormitory at Tehran University; they are reportedly in stable condition. Stranded students have called for urgent evacuation, expressing concern about their safety.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has urged Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to prioritise the evacuation of students, while the Peoples Democratic Party encouraged Kashmiri students to contact the Indian embassy for assistance.
