The husband of 30-year-old Athulya Shekhar now faces charges of physical abuse and dowry-related offences in India after she was found dead in her apartment in Sharjah.
Her parents filed the complaint against him, with her mother claiming he kicked Athulya's stomach and hit her on the head with a plate in the days leading up to her death.
Athulya had just celebrated her birthday a day prior and was set to start her first job at a company in a nearby mall, but tragically, she never did.
A murder case has also been filed against her husband.
