MANAMA: All eyes were on Bahrain yesterday with the start of the much-awaited F1 race.
The Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix exemplifies the kingdom’s outstanding potential as a destination for international events, the Crown Prince said.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, toured Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and attended the first day of the race.
The circuit is a source of great pride for Bahrain and contributes directly to the success of its economy, he said.
Thousands of fans witnessed thrilling action both on and off the track as the biggest sporting and entertainment spectacle unfolded in a festive environment.
Expectations for this year’s Formula One have already been exceeded, the Crown Prince said.
Taking a walk in the Paddock area of Bahrain International Circuit yesterday, he said he was very happy with this year’s race.
