A 12-year-old girl from Saudi Arabia has become the youngest female to publish a book series.
Ritaj Hussain Alhazmi, who at the time of verifying the record was 12 years and 295 days old, is the author of Treasure of the Lost Sea, Portal of the Hidden World, and Beyond the Future World.
She published her first novel, 'Treasure of the Lost' in 2019, and her second book 'Treasure of the Lost Sea' in 2020. After her second book was published, she qualified for the record. While her application was being reviewed, Ritaj published her third book, 'Beyond the Future World'. She was awarded the official record on July 4, 2022.
Originally from Dhahran, in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, Ritaj, now 14, speaks Arabic and English and is also learning Japanese.
Taking inspiration from illustrious authors such as Joanne Rendell and J.K Rowling, Alhazmi hopes to inspire aspiring young authors. She credits her success to Saudi Arabian libraries, which she visits regularly since she was a child.
