A Japanese climber fought off an aggressive Japanese black bear that charged at him on a mountain descent.
The adrenaline-pumping moment happened near Mt. Futago, a dormant volcano in Japan's Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.
A video of the encounter was uploaded to YouTube using an action camera.
According to the climber, he was attacked by the bear as he was descending the mountain. While maintaining his grip, he managed scare the animal away.
He scared off the bear by kicking it, hitting its head and screaming in the now-viral video, which has garnered more than 2.3 million views.
As a result of holding on to the mountain's rocky ridge during the battle for survival, the climber suffered scratches and cuts, as well as a sprained wrist.
He believes the bear was only defending its territory and has no hard feelings.
