Saudi has officially announced that children born to Saudi mothers who are married to foreigners can now apply for citizenship after the age of 18 years.
The amendment to Article 8 of the Saudi Arabian Nationality System is a major change for the kingdom.
To obtain the citizenship, the individual needs to be fluent in Arabic, must have permanent residence status in Saudi when he/she comes of legal age; has to be of good conduct, should not have any criminal convictions or imprisonment for a period exceeding six months for any indecent act, the Saudi Gazette said.
