Non-Bahraini widows living abroad ‘not eligible for pension’
So, basically no benefits for us while they’re alive, especially if we are working and taking care of our family, then when the husband passes away, get out of Bahrain and tough luck because unless we are working sponsored by an employer, as a retired-age widow we can’t legally live here. Speaking as a foreigner married to a Bahraini for nearly 33 years, living in Bahrain for 25. Sad prospects indeed.
PS: We get no GOSI retirement benefits even if we have worked while resident.
@scarlettcyn
@scarlettcyn Non-Bahrainis get a retirement amount which is more than Bahraini while Bahraini gets a pension which is very low also.
@s973s
@s973s Not any that I know and my Bahraini husband is retired and I’m well-aware of just how low his pension is.
@scarlettcyn
We can fix our economy, but when we lose our compassion, it matters to God Almighty.
@muhammedjamshid
Why not just cut the salaries of MPs to half or lower? You guys will still have a good life than a widow.
@s973s
Yes, make life harder for those who are less fortunate – that’s the spirit.
@tareq.aldoubosh
Non-married Bahrainis don’t get any kind of financial assistance or pensions. We are all widows without getting married.
@relaxingwave
Such a shameful proposal.

Bahrain condemns tearing of copy of Holy Quran in The Netherlands
Wait what! I’m Dutch and we have so many religions living in The Netherlands. I’m not sure this is accurate.
@marjon_sweet
I am sure 99pc of The Netherlands condemns the act.
@borisnajafov
Why would someone even think of burning a Holy Book?

Settling pending issues ‘crucial’
Please make this happen!
@husswachi
Yes, need to fly direct from Bahrain to Doha
