A 23-year-old blind amateur boxer is gearing up for his debut bout against a fully-sighted opponent in a charity match for Cancer Research UK.
Thomas Seres can only see three feet in front of him after severe congenital glaucoma caused damage to his vision.
The Rocky Balboa fan has dreamed of being a boxer and is training thrice a week and lifting weights in preparation for his fight next month.
“I’ve always wanted to box but didn’t think I could until I joined a boxing gym," he told The Sun.
"I’ll give it my best in the fight — win, lose or draw. Boxing’s quite an up-close sport so that’s in my favour, but I’ll struggle to see some of the punches coming in,” he said.
“I hope he doesn’t go easy on me for being blind. He’ll pay if he does. I have a knockout punch.”
Mr Seres has undergone more than 60 operations in his life and walks with a cane to help him navigate through roads and other public places.
