THE Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) yesterday held the fourth round of the 2023-2024 season at its racecourse in Al Raffa, Sakhir in the presence of Supreme Council for Environment vice-president and REHC deputy chairman Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The nine-round race was held for the cups of the Late Abdulla Ahmed Nass, the Applied Science University and the Gulf City Cleaning Company.
Breath of Air, owned by Adiyat Racing, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Lee Newman, won the ninth race for the Late Abdulla Ahmed Nass Cup over 1,400m for imported Class 1 - Domestic Grade 2 horses.
The eighth race for the Nass Corporation Cup over 1,800m for imported horses with handicap was won by Arctic Emperor, owned by Al Mohamediya Racing, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Anas Al Siyabi.
The Parent, owned by Al Adiyat Racing, trained by Smith and ridden by Gerald Mosse, won the seventh race for the Gulf City Cleaning Company Cup over 1,600m for imported horses with handicap.
The sixth race for the Applied Science University Cup over 1,600m for locally bred class 4 maiden horses was won by Carina, owned by Fateel Brothers Syndicate, trained by Basem Mahdi and ridden by Carlos Henrique.
Sahara Spear, owned by Al Remah Stable, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by A Rahim Jasim, won the fifth race over 1,400m for imported maiden horses.
The fourth race for locally bred horses with handicap over 1,400m was won by Jbarah, owned by Al-Afoo Racing, trained by Mohammed Hasan and ridden by Nathan Crosse.
Mayass, owned by Al Hassanain Racing, trained by Ali Jan and ridden by Ebrahim Nader, won the third race for the Late Abdulla Ahmed Nass Cup over 1,200m straight for imported horses with handicap.
The second race over 1,00m for locally bred horses with handicap was won by Ghaarah, owned by Al Bastaki Racing, trained by Salahuddin Albastaki and ridden by Henrique.
Al Hamdany 1810, owned by Victorious, trained by Yousif Taher and ridden by Adam Al Balushi, won the opening race over 1,200m for class 4 maiden horses.
NASS The Group chairman Sameer Abdulla Nass presented the trophy of the late Abdulla Ahmed Nass Cup to trainer Allan Smith, the winner of the ninth round, while Fawzi Abdulla Nasser, crowned trainer Ali Jan, the winner of the third round.
Meanwhile, Nass Corporation CEO Shawqi Al Hashimi presented the cup of the eighth round to Shaikh Sultan Al Deen bin Mohammad bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Applied Science University board chairman Professor Waheeb Al Khaja presented the trophy of the sixth round to Mahdi Salah Mahdi, while Gulf City Cleaning Company General Manager Stephen Williams presented the trophy of the seventh round to trainer Smith.
