SAUDI GAMES – Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the opening ceremony of the second edition of Saudi Games in Riyadh.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and organised by the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
Shaikh Khalid thanked Saudi Sports Minister and Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee chairman Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal for the invitation which, he said, reflects the long-standing relations between the two countries.
He affirmed that the Saudi Games are a testament to Saudi sports’ progress and development, as the kingdom has become a destination for major tournaments as well as for prominent stars and athletes as a result of the progress it is witnessing across all sectors, including sports.
Shaikh Khalid commended the success of the opening ceremony of the Saudi Games, which witnessed the presence of a large number of dignitaries and noted personalities from the field of sports. This, he said, reflects the prominent position the Games enjoy.
GSA deputy chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, GSA chief executive Dr Abdulrahman Askar and BOC secretary general Faris Al Kooheji were also present on the occasion.
