Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa has emphasised Bahrain’s strong commitment to boxing, and plans to further enhance its boxing players’ skills for future competitions.
Shaikh Khalid was speaking as he received former British professional boxer Amir Khan yesterday.
He praised Khan’s numerous world championships and Olympic achievements, highlighting his impressive sports career as a role model for promising athletes.
The BOC and Bahrain Combat Sports Council are working to advance boxing to represent the kingdom, he said.
The experience of Khan will be utilised to develop Bahrain team’s capabilities and discover new talents who can contribute to the kingdom’s boxing successes, Shaikh Khalid added.
