Bahrain Paralympic Committee president Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa has been elected to the position of a Member at Large in the Asian Paralympic Committee.
He gained the trust of the General Assembly of the Asian Paralympic Committee by winning a seat on the board for the next four years after a strong competition with other candidates.
In the first round, he secured 20 out of 39 votes, competing against the Japanese candidate who received 22 votes.
However, Shaikh Mohamed managed to secure his seat in the second round with 25 votes, during the General Assembly meeting held in Riyadh.
The Asian Paralympic Committee is responsible for organising and managing the Paralympic Games in Asia, aiming to enhance participation and develop sports for those with impairments in the region.
