Bahrain’s Kemi Adekoya did not participate in her women’s 400 metres hurdles heat this afternoon at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The former indoor world champion suffered an injury during her warm-up, according to the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and could not continue.
Adekoya’s hopes of claiming an Olympic medal have come to an abrupt and unfortunate end as she is not eligible to compete in the all-new repechage round, having not raced in the heats.
It is unclear, however, how the repechage rules apply to injured athletes.
No more details of Adekoya's injury are available at this time.
