‘Zero Hour Between Iran and Israel is Approaching’, with this headline, the Iranian reformist newspaper Arman Emrooz talked about the future of the conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv, expressing hope to prevent this clash, which everyone has become certain of its inevitability.
The newspaper referred to what was leaked by the Hebrew media about the agreement of the political level and the army on the type and manner of response, and the targets to be struck in Iran, in retaliation to the October 1 attack on Israel.
Setareh Sobh newspaper also raised this issue, and wrote in the main headline ‘War or Diplomacy?’, believing that the US alone can stop the imminent war between Iran and Israel due to the intransigent Israeli stance and its determination to continue confronting Iran and its allies in Lebanon and elsewhere.
Another issue that some newspapers, especially the conservative ones, spotlighted was the appearance of Iranian Al Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani after more than two-week absence from the media following reports claiming that he was killed or injured in Israeli raids on Lebanon.
Javan, an IRGC-affiliated newspaper, said that Iran had duped Israel and the international media through Qaani’s absence, without discussing the gains or reasons behind this “trick” that raised concern among the regime’s supporters who demanded that the fate of Al Quds Force Commander be disclosed.
Another issue some newspapers also discussed is the European Union’s imposition of sanctions on the Iranian aviation sector and Iran’s reaction to that after flights between Iran and the EU countries were suspended.
Kayhan, the most conservative and hardline Iranian newspaper known for its loyalty to the regime and Khamenei, called for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to these sanctions, stressing that condemnation and the summoning of Western ambassadors and officials is not enough. “Tehran must take the initiative to close the strait to the movement of commercial and military ships of European countries,” wrote the newspaper.
