Abu Dhabi is set to roll out facial recognition technology in all its hotels, a step aimed at streamlining and speeding up the check-in process by reducing the time it takes and enhancing safety.
The technology will be used to capture biometric data during guest check-ins and will be held securely by the Emirati Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, and stored on a secure database managed by the Department of Culture and Tourism.
The idea behind this system is to enhance guest safety above all and streamline hotel operations.
The system is still in the pilot phase but will commence a full roll-out across all five-star hotels and will gradually expand to all categories.
