CRICKET – Shaheen Group triumphed over Target CC by seven wickets in a low-scoring final match of the Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) Hidd Premier League (HPL) Season 16.
Chasing a modest target of 67 runs, set by Target after winning the toss, Shaheen reached 71/3 in just 9.1 overs with a composed batting.
Showcasing disciplined bowling for the winners, Durgesh S (4/7 in 3 overs) dismantled the middle order and Rambikash Nishad (2/8 in 4 overs) and Pankaj Pandey (2/14) provided crucial breakthroughs.
Target lost five wickets for just 13 runs, collapsing from 41/3 to 58/8 in three overs. Nazish Husain (28 off 20 balls) was the lone warrior for Target, hitting two fours and two sixes.
For Shaheen, Natique Abdul Razzak (20 off 16 balls) gave a fiery start and Asif Mumtaz (18 off 19 balls) anchored the chase with calmness.
Though Zamim Ullah and Mansoor Kunhi tried to stem the flow, their mission did not succeed as Shaheen openers raced to 31/1 in five overs to wind up the game early.
“Our bowlers set the tone and the batters finished it clinically. This win boosts our morale,” said Mohammad Irfan, skipper of Shaheen Group.
“We lost too many wickets in clusters,” observed Target captain Suneer Pandinjare.
The chief guests at the grand finale were BCF advisory board chairman Mohammad Mansoor, President Sami M. Ali and board member Alison Lilywhite.
Umer Faheem (Bin Hindi Group), Ashwin Poojary (Shaheen), Biju George (Shaheen), Mohsin (BANZ), Tausif (BANZ), Zakwan (Al Hilal Hospital), Faisal(BTCO), and Anu (Haji Hassan) were also present on the occasion.
