JIU-JITSU – BAHRAIN jiu-jitsu national team will participate in the Asian championship held in Amman, Jordan. Over 776 players, representing 27 Asian nations, are expected to take part in the event which will conclude on Tuesday.
There are two Bahraini players who will try their luck in the youth category – Abdulla Al-Shaikh, who will participate in the under-56kg weight category, and Pedro Pese, who will take part in the under-85kg category.
In the adult category, Mohammed Al-Suwar will participate in the under-56kg weight division, Salman Khalfan will participate in the under-62kg weight category, Hassan Osama will participate in the under-69kg weight category, Mohammed Al Najjar will participate in the under-69kg weight category, Abdullah Habib will participate in the under-77kg weight category, and Khaled Faraj will participate in the under-94kg weight category
The Bahraini delegation is led by Redha Monfaradi who is also first vice president of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation and president of the Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Other members are team manager Ahmed Mohammed Janahi, coaches Robert Heinick and Bader Al Dosari and team doctor Dr Ahmed Al Aradi.
Participation in the Asian championship will strengthen the Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said Monfaradi and added that the championship was the right place to improve the skills and abilities of the players.
He praised the efforts of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, headed by Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohamed Al Hashemi, to popularise the game.
