Reigning World Champion Dommaraju Gukesh defeated current World No.1 Magnus Carlsen in the sixth round of the Norway Chess 2025.
Carlsen looked to be in the dominant position for most of the match. However, the game took a turn when he made a blunder towards the final moments of the match, allowing Gukesh to clinch the game. A frustrated Carlsen, upon realising he had lost because of his blunder, slammed the table before apologising and congratulating a surprised Gukesh.
Carlsen had previously defeated Gukesh in their opening round clash of the tournament.
