Abu Dhabi: Drivers rushed over the past three months to pay hundreds of thousands of traffic fines in Abu Dhabi, profiting from the 50 per cent reduction in penalties.
According to Abu Dhabi Police Department, over 1.8 million have been paid since the 90-day reduction took effect on the 2nd of December and which run until February 28.
The 50 per cent fine reduction applied to private, commercial cars and other confiscated vehicles, whose traffic violations were dated between August 1, 2016 and December 1, 2017.
“The Abu Dhabi Police said the fine reduction was one of the government's plans under the Year of Giving 2017 and that the drive aimed to spread the culture of road safety and encourage motorists to obey traffic rules.”, said Khallej Times.
