The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) has finalised tourist visa regulations as part of efforts to develop the hospitality sector, according to Sabq.
The draft rules which were drawn up in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been referred to the Saudi Government.
Government departments, public enterprises, investors and officials working in the sectors of tourism, transport, service provision took part in drafting the blueprint.
An integrated electronic system has also been set up under the supervision of a team led by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
A SCTH strategy endorsed in 2005 stipulated the development of the tourism sector and expansion of tourism visas.
The National Transformation Program 2020 endorsed the tourist visa as one of the key initiatives with high economic feasibility.
