Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has warned against the spread of malicious rumours and misinformation, urging the public to disregard dubious messages and focus on reliable information sources.
“Spreading rumours of this nature is a legal offence and such actions are under close scrutiny,” he warned during a joint meeting between the legislative and executive branches yesterday.
“It is vital to correct misconceptions that do not serve the security of the nation and instead jeopardise civil peace and societal security.
Gen Shaikh Rashid also commended the steady leadership of His Majesty King Hamad over the past 25 years, crediting it with fostering trust, unity and strengthening Bahrain’s relations regionally and internationally.
“His Majesty King Hamad has laid down a strong foundation of co-operation and diplomacy that has enabled Bahrain to navigate challenging times with resilience and unity,” he said, also acknowledging the continuous guidance and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Interior Minister praised the role of the legislative authority as a key partner in safeguarding national security.
“The legislature is a major partner in upholding national responsibility by contributing to the security of the country,” he affirmed.
Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh echoed these sentiments, reaffirming Bahrain’s unwavering commitment to national preparedness and peace, especially amid the challenging regional and global context.
“The comprehensive preparations and high level of readiness demonstrated by Bahrain confirm the kingdom’s dedication to mobilising all efforts and sustaining work at the highest levels of efficiency to guarantee civil safety and protect national achievements,” Mr Al Saleh said.
He paid tribute to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad and praised Bahrain’s consistent diplomatic approach to resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
“We take pride in Bahrain’s steadfast principle, under His Majesty’s leadership, of advocating diplomatic tools to solve crises, overcome challenges and strengthen regional and global peace, coexistence and fraternity,” he added.
Mr Al Saleh also commended the government, led by HRH Prince Salman for its systematic and proactive handling of civil emergencies, stressing that ‘government institutions are fully prepared to manage any potential scenario with professionalism and a fully co-ordinated institutional approach’.
He further lauded the transparency demonstrated by the authorities in keeping citizens informed of developments, as well as the critical role of HRH Prince Salman in personally overseeing emergency response efforts.
“The active engagement of the legislative authority in these discussions reflects the close co-operation between the two branches of government,” he noted.
Mr Al Saleh particularly praised Bahrain’s National Emergency Plan for its ‘well-studied mechanisms and precautionary measures, reflecting the competence of the relevant institutions and their systematic readiness to handle various emergency scenarios’.
He stressed the responsibility of every citizen and institution to uphold Bahrain’s security.
“Maintaining the security and stability of Bahrain is a shared national responsibility. We must all work together to reinforce social protection and unity,” he said, urging collective national solidarity in confronting challenges.
“Security challenges and regional developments demand national cohesion and societal solidarity that reflect true belonging to this nation,” Mr Al Saleh added, calling on civil society institutions to play an active role in raising awareness across the community.
