Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has cracked down on certain types of souvenirs being sold in the Muttrah Suq, Oman Observer reported.
Following inspections the controversial commemorative mementos were withdrawn from the market after receiving complaints that the items bear symbols of another country.
Muttrah Suq is a destination for tourists, including cruise travellers who buy souvenirs that depict the important landmarks of Oman, including its cultural and traditional heritage.
These products which are sold in most of the gift shops in Muttrah Suq are painted in the national colours and feature Oman’s name.
