FOOTBALL – FIFA first vice-president and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa from Bahrain expressed confidence in the ability of Asian clubs to deliver a strong performance at the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup, which kicked off early this morning in the US.
On behalf of the Asian football community, Shaikh Salman extended his best wishes to Al Ain from the UAE, Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, Ulsan HD of South Korea, and Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan, as well as the Asian referees participating in the expanded edition of the tournament.
Shaikh Salman noted that Asian clubs have consistently demonstrated their competitiveness on the international stage and expressed confidence in their ability to continue embodying the AFC’s vision of global success.
Shaikh Salman also highlighted the added value of the expanded tournament, describing it as a reflection of the global football community’s aspirations, including those of the AFC and its members, to stage a world-class club competition that showcases the growing enthusiasm for continental football.
He extended his sincere wishes to the organising committees to present the event in the best possible manner.
