His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team Captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday met UAE Vice-President and Dubai Prime Minister and Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the Dubai International Endurance City Ride.
Sheikh Mohammed and Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum crowned Bahraini riders Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa and Raed Mahmood among the champions of the competition, in addition to a number of UAE’s finest riders who participated in the event.
The first place went to Emirati rider Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum who completed the race in 01:37:55 with a speed of 24km, while the second and third places went to fellow Emirati riders Abdulla Al Murri and Saif Al Mazroo’ee, who finished in 01:37:18 and 01:39:02 respectively.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa finished in 01:41:12 time, but his team partner Mahmood was eliminated from the third stage of the race.
Shaikh Nasser congratulated Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hamdan on the success of the competition. Shaikh Nasser also commended the high technical levels shown by the participants in the race and praised the members of the orgainising committee for holding such a successful event.
Shaikh Nasser, speaking to Emirati media on the sidelines of the competition, highlighted the importance of the participation of Bahrain Royal Endurance Team in key regional and international competitions, adding that Dubai International Endurance City Ride is one of the most prominent endurance competitions in the region.
