Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has topped the Arab region on the indicator of quality of life for 2019.
The US News and World Report have also ranked the UAE 26th best country for the quality of life, out of 80 states featuring on the list.
The index ranks countries based on access to food and housing, quality education and health care and employment.
Last year, the UAE was ranked 25th on the index, which takes into consideration also other benchmarks, including job security and environmental quality.
Switzerland, Japan and Canada topped the list, while the United States of America ranked eighth.
Egypt move up by two places to rank 40, up from 42 in 2018 in the overall rankings.
The list also includes Saudi Arabia (32), Qatar (31), Morocco (42), Oman (63) and Jordan (71) for the year 2019.
