Riyadh: Saudi Embassy in Ankara issued advisory to compatriots about dubious individuals who hold fake Syrian identity cards and trap foreign visitors into sham marriages in order to extort money.
The embassy urged Saudi nationals to be away from towns on the borders between Turkey and Syria in order not to fall prey to bogus marriage gangs.
According to a report in Arabic daily Al-Jazirah, fraudsters post matrimonial advertisement on social media websites to prey on visitors and extort money.
Saudi nationals were also urged to obtain official approval from competent authorities before marrying abroad to ensure and preserve their rights.
