His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has hailed the debut victory of Valyrian Steel in the UK Derby Horse Race.
Shaikh Nasser said that the win confirms the kingdom’s extraordinary position in the equestrian sport. He thanked His Majesty King Hamad for his support, stating that such backing has contributed to the kingdom’s growth in equestrian sport.
“With the return of horse racing competitions in the UK which had been postponed following the Covid-19 outbreak, Valyrian Steel claimed debut victory in a narrowly contested race,” Shaikh Nasser said.
“We were keen to participate in this race to understand the conditions of the Victorious Team’s horses after an interruption of a few months. We are glad to top the podium in such an important competition and raise Bahrain’s flag high,” he added.
“This victory is a source of motivation for us to strive for further achievements.”
