Football – Al Malkiya staged a thrilling last-minute comeback to secure a 2-1 victory against Al Khalidiya in a match at Khalifa Sports City Stadium, as part of round 18 of the 2024-2025 Nasser bin Hamad Premier League.
Al Malkiya’s goals were scored by Isa Al Bari in the 79th minute and Khalil Al Tamrani in the 91st minute, while Al Khalidiya’s only goal was scored by Mahdi Abduljabbar five minutes after the official time of the first half of the match.
With this win, Al Malkiya increased their tally to 24 points, while Al Khalidiya remained at 33 points.
In the second match, Sitra and Al Shabab played out a 1-1 draw at the Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Arad. Al Shabab took an early lead through Alexandro Soares in the 3rd minute but Sitra equalised with a goal from Sonqalo Isa in the 54th minute. As a result, Sitra moved up to 28 points, while Al Shabab increased their tally to 22 points.
In the third match, Al Najma cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Bahrain Club in their encounter at Bahrain National Stadium. Al Najma’s goals were scored by Omar Saber in the 7th minute and Mohammed Al Marmour in the 48th minute from the penalty spot.
With this result, Al Najma raised their tally to 25 points, while Bahrain remained at 20 points.
Round 18 of the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League concludes today with three matches, all scheduled to kick off at 7pm. Muharraq take on Manama at Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Arad, while Riffa face East Riffa at Khalifa Sports City Stadium, and Al Ahli square off against Al Aali at Bahrain National Stadium.
