BAHRAIN International Circuit’s (BIC) double header event could be the stage for a unique face-off between two of F1’s top drivers, as Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel holds off World Champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes from taking the most number of wins at the Sakhir circuit.
With four P1 finishes in Bahrain, Vettel currently holds the record for the most number of wins at BIC, while Hamilton is close behind with three victories.
If Lewis scores a victory today, continuing his outstanding season of 13 podium finishes and 10 victories in the 14 races so far in 2020, he will tie the record and next weekend’s race will have an added layer of excitement as he vies for the lead.
However, defending the title are a driver and constructor who have been extraordinarily successful on the sandy Sakhir circuit.
Ferrari holds the record for constructor with most podium finishes and Vettel has proven to be formidable, having led for a record 1,311km on the circuit.
Holding off Hamilton could be Vettel’s final thumbing of the nose to Hamilton before leaving Ferrari for Aston Martin Racing Point next year.
