Dubai: One thousand creators and artists from across the world will be granted cultural visas, as part of a first-of-its-kind cultural visa initiative launched by UAE Prime Minister, Vice-President and Dubai Ruler His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The plan, which was first revealed in 2019 has already received 261 cultural visa applications from individuals hailing from 46 nations, Khaleej Times reported.
A total of 120 applicants have met the required and optional criteria and a majority have already been issued visas, while the remaining are currently under process.
The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority said the initiative was launched in a bid to position the fast-developing emirate as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a hub for talent.
The visa, valid for a period of 10 years, is granted to accomplished individuals in the fields of literature, culture, fine arts, performing arts, and design, as well as those in the heritage, history and knowledge-related sectors in addition to intellectual and creative industries.
