Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has set up the largest cold storage facility for Covid-19 vaccines in the UAE.
Born out of the partnership between Abu Dhabi-based healthcare procurement company Rafed and Abu Dhabi Ports, the state-of-the-art facility can store vaccines at temperatures ranging from 8 to -80 degrees celsius, Hope Consortium honourary chairman Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa said during a virtual summit in Abu Dhabi.
The distribution centre is located in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad).
Abu Dhabi Ports and Rafed are part of the Hope Consortium which utilises blockchain technology to ensure the safe delivery of vaccines, Khaleej Times reported.
