Rapper Cardi B won a defamation case against celebrity blogger and YouTuber Latasha Kebe, known as Tasha K, on Monday.
The jury supported the rapper on all claims of defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress and awarded the rapper $1.25 million in damages.
Cardi B, whose legal name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, filed the lawsuit in March 2019, saying Kebe’s alleged “campaign of slander” involved false allegations that she had sexually transmitted diseases, used cocaine and worked as a prostitute.
Cardi testified in court two weeks ago that she suffered extreme “anxiety” and “depression” after Kebe posted videos to her YouTube channel “unWinewithTashaK” with the false statements.
She said that severe stress caused her health problems and led to issues in her relationships.
“I felt extremely suicidal,” Cardi B testified, according to Billboard.
The money awarded for damages breaks down to $1 million for “pain and suffering and/or reputational injury,” and $250,000 for medical expenses.
