Egyptian actor Shady Khalaf has been sentenced to three years in jail.
The Cairo Criminal Court, on Tuesday, found him guilty of harassment, indecent assault, and attempted rape of seven women during an acting training workshop.
The first court hearing in the trial of the actor kicked off in November 2021.
The incidents of assault were revealed in June 2021 through a series of Instagram posts where several women accused Khalaf of sexual assault during his acting workshops, after convincing the victims to stay late for further practice.
The conviction comes after Egypt toughened its sexual harassment law in July 2021, treating the crime as a felony instead of a misdemeanour.
