Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority released a statement on Tuesday clarifying the reason for internet disruption in the country. The statement said the outage was due to damaged international submarine communication cables.
"The Authority would like to report that internet traffic has been affected at the international level, which has affected subscribers of all telecommunications companies in the Sultanate of Oman, due to a cut in the international submarine communication cables that carry internet services in the countries located on the cable route,” read the statement.
The authorities worked with its partners to fully restore the service.
