Doha: Three Kosovo nationals were sentenced to a combined 39 years in prison for their involvement in a multi-million gold theft.
The Criminal Court convicted them of breaking into a jewellery shop and stealing gold worth QR8.4 million and sentenced them each to ten years in jail.
They were each handed down an additional sentence of three years in prison for using forged passports and ordered to be immediately deported on serving their jail term.
The inquiry revealed that the gang had stolen gold jewellery and luxury watches, as well as the CCTV camera, in a bid to erase all traces of the crime.
Police recovered the stolen items which were found hidden in their rental car.
It was also found that one of the convicts had previously entered Qatar using a forged passport and committed two similar robberies.
