Oman's Education Ministry has announced its decision reduce tuition and registration fees for certain groups of expat students in public schools across the sultanate.
Non-Omani students in government schools who will be exempted from service fees will be from the following categories:
- Children of Omani women married to non-Omani men.
- Students from the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, on the condition of reciprocity.
- Students who do not hold identification documents confirming their nationality, provided that the exemption is limited to students of schools specified by the Ministry of Education in the border areas.
- Students from the Republic of Yemen.
- Children of expats working in the Ministry of Education are exempted by 50pc of the value of the fee mentioned.
- Students from social security families, students in the Al-Kifah Center in the Central Prison in Samail State, and the Al-Hour Center in Al-Khuwair affiliated to the Juvenile Affairs Department of the Ministry of Social Development are exempted from registration fees for adult education, which ranges from OMR 5 to OMR 50, depending on the age groups.
The decision was announced in the official Gazette issued by the Justices and Legal Affairs Ministry on Sunday.
