THE popular Spring of Culture festival continues this week with a range of exhibitions and live musical acts.
Bahrain’s own Mohammed Bin Faris Band will perform at Bab Al Bahrain on Saturday. They will recall the nation’s pearling past at the free event which begins at 7.30pm.
Distinguished Bahraini artist Ahmed Al Jumairi will be accompanied by the Bahrain Music Band, led by maestro Zeyad Zaiman, at a special event coinciding with National Action Charter Day on Tuesday. The event will be held at the Bahrain National Theatre, starting 8pm.
- The Japanese Embassy, supported by the Japan Foundation and in co-operation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, is hosting the Japan Film Festival 2023. Attendees will be able to catch a free screening of Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura at the Bahrain National Museum on Wednesday at 6pm.
- An exhibition titled 47 Layers by Shaikha Hala Mohammed Al Khalifa remains open to visitors until March 30. It delves into layers of the soul, experiences and places that we find ourselves in, while navigating various paths in search of clarity and comfort.
The artist explores two main elements – a local traditional fishing tool called ‘Al Salya’, as well as the artwork itself made of locally produced palm tree paper. The event is being held at the House of Architectural Heritage, Muharraq, from 8am to 1pm and 4pm to 7pm from Saturday to Thursday.
- Artist Fadwa Ramadan’s exhibition titled Beyond Languages II opens on Sunday.
The showcase will highlight Ms Ramadan’s trip to Egypt’s Siwa Oasis in 2014, which triggered a new-found interest in the Amazigh language, a group of dialects indigenous to North Africa. Her artworks can be viewed at the Art Concept, Manama, until February 26 from 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 6pm from Sunday to Thursday.
On Saturdays, the exhibition is open from 3pm to 7pm.
- What Night Does II by Abdulrahim Sharif will be unveiled on Monday.
In his latest exhibition, Mr Sharif expresses what is in his heart through painting - his ideas about the world, the secrets that rise from the ashes of darkness and the truths he discovers in ordinary humanity.
The showcase is open to all at the Bin Matar House until April 13 from 9am to 1pm and 4pm to 7pm from Saturday to Thursday.
- Poet and academic Eman Abdulhadi will host a poetry session on Monday. Titled ‘Faster Than Light – Slower Than Wind’, the event will be held at the House of Poetry in Ibrahim Al Arrayed House from 8pm. Only limited seating is available.
