ROMANIAN Yannick Theodore took another step to retain his boys’ singles title of the International Tennis Federation’s Junior Championship, which he won last week, after beating Italian Peru Arch, and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition, organised by the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF).
The Romanian took a well-deserved victory at the BTF courts in Isa Town yesterday, as he settled the match 6-0, 6-2 without too much of a bother.
In other round of 16 matches, Senir Morag beat Russian Daniil Pogatov 6-1, 6-2, Mars Argun, of Turkey, deafeated American Manaf Harriraj 6-3, 7-6(3), Itay Ezra entered the quarter-final after his Czech oppoent, Jakub Smicki, withdrew due to injury, after winning the first set 6-1, and trailing 1-4 in the second set.
Pakistani Bilal Asim continued his strong showing in the tournament beating Noam Yashiahu 6-3, 7-6(3), and Italian Giovanni Gioca, the runner-up of the last edition, advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Itay Cohen 6-3, 7-5.
