Hussain Alshorafa claimed the eight-and-under category title in the Bahrain Tennis Academy (BTA) Junior Tennis Tournament held at the courts of the Bahrain Tennis Federation in Isa Town.
Players initially took part in a round-robin competition, after which the top scoring players in each group progressed to the final rounds.
In the semi-finals, Hussain defeated Abbas Nabeel 10-4 while Dougie Armitage defeated Ahmed Khalfan 10-9. In the play-off for third place, Ahmed edged out Abbas 7-5, 6-7, 7-4. Then, in the final, Hussain claimed the title with a 7-2, 7-1 win over Dougie.
BTA and tournament director Dan Barrie said: “We had a great turnout for the eight-and-under event this year. The kids had fun and despite their young age really impressed us with their skills.”
